The Oceans and Climate Research GroupThe Oceans and Climate Research Group consists of researchers from a diverse range of backgrounds (oceanography, geology, geophysics, atmospheric sciences, geochemistry, biology), who share an interest in developing an understanding of the oceans and their role in modulating and driving global environmental variability and change. Our current research focuses on: Marine biogeochemical processes and carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous cycles. Deriving high-resolution paleoceanography and paleoclimatology records. Determining the origin and fate of natural and anthropogenic pollutants in coastal areas. Understanding the relationship between environmental change and genetic evolution in marine plankton. Using remote sensing in mapping and quantifying ocean currents and sea surface temperature.
